- 31 DarkShutdown 2.1.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 11-10-1993
- DESC: DarkShutdown 2.1 - DarkShutdown is a DarkSide of the Mac module.
- KEY: DarkShutdown 2.1.sit KBytes: 8192
- DESC: DarkSide is a free, yet wonderful and non-obtrusive screen-saver by
- DESC: Tom Dowdy. This screen saver will not patch the Operating System,
- DESC: avoiding the dreaded conflicts you may experience with other screen
- DESC: savers. DarkShutdown works by sending a restart or shutdown Apple
- DESC: Event to the Finder (or At Ease); the net effect is the same as if
- DESC: you had chosen "Restart" or "Shut Down" in the Finder. The Finder
- DESC: will politely close all your open applications, then restart or
- DESC: power off your Mac if software-power off capable. DarkShutdown may
- DESC: be used on any Mac with DarkSide 4.1, which requires System 7 or
- 28 Daylight! 4.03.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 01-14-1994
- DESC: Daylight! 4.03 - Daylight! 4.03 is a Daylight Saving Time adjustment
- KEY: Daylight! 4.03.sit KBytes: 37888
- DESC: Extension/control panel. It makes the necessary one hour time
- DESC: changes from year to year for you without you having to worry about
- DESC: it. It also gives the dates that the hour changes on. Daylight! also
- DESC: give the history of Daylight Savings Time. This version adds support
- DESC: for the Daylight Saving Time bit in the parameter RAM. This is a
- DESC: great fix because now it doesn't matter if you boot from different
- DESC: drives - the computer's PRAM knows if you're in DST or not. Works
- DESC: fine with a Plus, which surprised me. Requires System 7. Of course
- DESC: most of Arizona does not need this control panel, but you can use
- 27 DeBNDL 1.0.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 10-14-1992
- DESC: DeBNDL 1.0 - DeBNDL is a drop-type application for use with Apple's
- KEY: DeBNDL 1.0.sit KBytes: 66560
- DESC: System 7.0 or better. It provides a simple method for replacing an
- DESC: icon in the Finder's Desktop File. Normally, you would have to
- DESC: rebuild the Desktop File by holding down command-option when
- DESC: rebooting and then waiting for the Finder to rebuild the entire
- DESC: Desktop File. While this is still recommended when adding, changing
- DESC: or removing substantial numbers of application and other files from
- DESC: your hard drive, when designing that one icon for your special
- DESC: folder or new application DeBNDL is the ticket.
- DESC:
- 26 Décor 1.2.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 12-27-1993
- DESC: Décor 1.2 - Decor is a Control Panel which allows you to replace the
- KEY: Décor 1.2.sit KBytes: 21504
- DESC: standard gray desktop pattern with a picture or pattern of your
- DESC: choice. The picture or pattern must be in either PICT or
- DESC: StartupScreen format. You can specify a particular file for Decor
- DESC: to display, or have Decor choose one at random from a pre-selected
- DESC: folder. The picture can be changed without restarting your
- DESC: Macintosh. Decor requires System 7 and 32 bit Quickdraw. To install
- DESC: it, simply move it into your Control Panels folder, change it's
- DESC: settings as you see fit and reboot. Version 1.1.2 eliminated the bus
- DESC: error that occurred when the desktop pattern was the vanilla grey
- 25 DefaultApp1.0a1.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 02-28-1994
- DESC: Default App 1.0a1 - Default Application is a utility for configuring
- KEY: DefaultApp1.0a1.sit KBytes: 11264
- DESC: Finder 7’s choice of the application to launch for documents whose
- DESC: creators can’t be found. For example, I have my Finder configured
- DESC: so that if I double-click a MacWrite II or Microsoft Word document,
- DESC: it is automatically opened with MacWrite Pro. There are other
- DESC: utilities around for doing this, but what makes mine different is
- DESC: that it’s a control panel, and lets you make changes quickly,
- DESC: without quitting and restarting the Finder. Default App does not
- DESC: need to load (as a control panel) on startup, so it can reside
- DESC: anywhere on the drive. Balloon help is available.
- 24 DEFAULTEM.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 09-19-1992
- DESC: DEFAULTEM - In the System 7 Finder, if you double click on a TEXT or
- KEY: DEFAULTEM.sit KBytes: 14336
- DESC: PICT file with an unknown creator, you will get a prompt asking if
- DESC: you would like to open it using TeachText. This utility will expand
- DESC: the number of defaults whereby you can change TEXT files to Edit or
- DESC: Microsoft Word and PICT files to MacDrawII or SuperPaint. Also you
- DESC: can defaul MacWrite docs to Microsoft Word...FKEYs to ResEdit or
- DESC: Defaultem (Defaultem will run any FKEY file dragged and dropped on
- DESC: it) and MacPaint and StartupScreens to either SuperPaint or
- DESC: GIFConverter.System 7 Dependent.
- DESC:
- 23 DEICON.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 02-14-1992
- DESC: DeIcon, a drag-and-drop utility (Drop Rob-Box), hides the icons of
- KEY: DEICON.sit KBytes: 20480
- DESC: selected files, folders or disks in the Finder, so that only the
- DESC: name is visible. That way, you can stack your files, drag-and-drop
- DESC: utilities, etc. without taking up a lot of room. It is especially
- DESC: useful for making a launchpad that consumes very little space on
- DESC: your desktop. Another 7.0 PLUS Utility by Robert Gibson. Requires
- DESC: System 7.0 or higher.
- 22 Deleter 1.0.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 07-01-1993
- DESC: Deleter 1.0 - This application allows you to quickly delete any file
- KEY: Deleter 1.0.sit KBytes: 13312
- DESC: (that is not in use or on a locked disk) from any disk — even
- DESC: invisible files. To use Deleter, start the application as usual by
- DESC: double-clicking on it. Simply select the file you wish to delete,
- DESC: and click the Delete button. A feature of the application is a
- DESC: display of the selected file’s creator, file type, size (in
- DESC: kilobytes), and indicators of locked, alias, invisible and
- DESC: stationary files. These displays are in the Standard File dialog
- DESC: itself, so you can quickly view this information for each file
- DESC: simply by clicking on the file’s name. Rest assured that deleting
- 21 DepthMaster1.O.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 08-20-1993
- DESC: DepthMaster1.O - DepthMaster is a great control panel for people who
- KEY: DepthMaster1.O.sit KBytes: 26624
- DESC: use programs which always seem to want a different color depth
- DESC: (please set monitor to 8 bit...). I get tired of always having to
- DESC: open the monitor control panel to change the setting. DepthMaster
- DESC: can do it for you. It lets you set the monitor depth and sound level
- DESC: for each application you want. Then DepthMaster will do it's work
- DESC: when you launch one of the applications. A hot menu can be set up to
- DESC: access DepthMaster. A must for game players! Requires System 7.
- DESC:
- DESC:
- 20 Desktop Deleter.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 07-22-1993
- DESC: Desktop Deleter - Desktop Deleter is a souped-up version of
- KEY: Desktop Deleter.sit KBytes: 16384
- DESC: reCoverUP. Desktop Deleter allows you to select and delete
- DESC: different types of desktop database files from your hard drive. It
- DESC: also allows you to delete old-style and foreign disk database files.
- DESC: Since System 7 does not use the old-style Desktop files, you can
- DESC: free a large amount of space from your disks by deleting it.
- DESC: Desktop deleter can also be used to recover files lost due to the
- DESC: System 7 tuneup bug. Desktop deleter may not fix file disappearance
- DESC: problems, but will make the problems fixable with a disk repair
- DESC: utility. This utility is one of the 7 Plus utilities by Robert
- 19 Desktop Remover.sit 2 B AMUG BBS in a Box 02-14-1992
- DESC: Desktop Remover is a simple program that removes the System 6
- KEY: Desktop Remover.sit KBytes: 7168
- DESC: Desktop file saving System 7 users precious space on their hard
- DESC: disk. System 7 users do not need this file unless they switch back
- DESC: and forth between System 6 and 7. If you do switch back after
- DESC: removing the desktop file, your Mac will simply rebuild it. You
- DESC: will, however, lose your desktop comments.
- DESC:
- 17 DesktopValet 3.0.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 11-10-1993
- DESC: DesktopValet 3.0 - End desktop clutter forever! Avoid the most
- KEY: DesktopValet 3.0.sit KBytes: 9216
- DESC: tedious file operations. This utility will move, delete, shred or
- DESC: alias files that are dropped on it. Put copies of it in your Apple
- DESC: Menu, on your launch pad, or in deep folders. Make aliases of it on
- DESC: your desktop and rename them according to the desired option. Keep
- DESC: a number of Valets around in convenient places. With them, you can
- DESC: move, delete, and alias files quickly and easily. Just double click
- DESC: on a Valet to choose your options. The drag and drop interface is
- DESC: pretty self explanatory. Desktop Valet does not work on floppy
- DESC: disks. Desktop Valet now recognizes Apple Events! Requires System 7.
- 15 DirectoryMan 1.2.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 06-28-1993
- DESC: DirectoryMan 1.2 - This is a System 7 dependent directory utility.
- KEY: DirectoryMan 1.2.sit KBytes: 91136
- DESC: Drop volumes, files, or folders onto this application and
- DESC: DirectoryMan will create a list of all the files enclosed. Holding
- DESC: down the Option key while dragging an object onto DirectoryMan will
- DESC: create a list seperated by Tabs. That way you can import the file
- DESC: list into a spreadsheet for further manipulation.
- DESC:
- 14 Discolour 1.02.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 10-28-1993
- DESC: Discolour 1.02 - The latest version of Andrew Welch's little nifty
- KEY: Discolour 1.02.sit KBytes: 10240
- DESC: that replaces the awful B & W floppy icon with a modifiable (via
- DESC: ResEdit) colored disk - Discolour works only under System 7 on
- DESC: color-capable Macintoshes. Discolour is a system extension for
- DESC: System 7.0 and later that rectifies a shortcoming in the wonderful
- DESC: Finder 7.0 - floppy disk icons are displayed as the ugly old black
- DESC: and white icon while the rest of the desktop is bursting with
- DESC: color! Discolour causes the Finder to display beautiful full-color
- DESC: icons in place of the b & w floppy disk icons when you are in 16
- DESC: color mode or greater. Just drag Discolour onto your System Folder
- 12 Don's TSM Hacks.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 07-15-1993
- DESC: Don's TSM Hacks - Two utilities (and an optional helper INIT) that
- KEY: Don's TSM Hacks.sit KBytes: 25600
- DESC: provides floating utility windows to use with your Macintosh. One
- DESC: provides a floating window of all open applications, hiding the
- DESC: windows of all but the frontmost. The other shows the first dozen
- DESC: icons from some folder, that you can use as an application laucher.
- DESC: Includes AppBar1.0b1, TSM Helper1.0b1 and pLayer 1.0b1. These files
- DESC: were written at the 1993 MacHacks, and are for use only with System
- DESC: 7.1.

- DESC:
- 11 DOSWasher 1.0.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 05-01-1993
- DESC: DOSWasher 1.0 - Why another text converter? Even though there are
- KEY: DOSWasher 1.0.sit KBytes: 14336
- DESC: many such utilities out there, I wanted one with the drag and drop
- DESC: feature. Since I couldn't find one, I wrote it myself. However, to
- DESC: lively things up a little I tried to alter the look of the interface
- DESC: somewhat. Will this be the System 8 look, perhaps. The DOSWasher
- DESC: application will toggle text documents, dragged onto it, from
- DESC: MS-DOS to Macintosh formats and vice versa. It's even possible to
- DESC: mix Mac and DOS formats in the same batch, since each file is
- DESC: checked individually before conversion. You can also locate single
- DESC: files in a standard dialog box.
- 9 Drag’in 1.5.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 12-23-1992
- DESC: Drag’in 1.5 - Drag'in is a cool control panel that makes drag'in
- KEY: Drag’in 1.5.sit KBytes: 21504
- DESC: windows a lot more useful. When you drag a window, instead of the
- DESC: outline of the window, you'll drag the window. Drag'in also has a
- DESC: really cool option called "Multitask while drag'in". If this option
- DESC: is turned on, via the options dialog in the control panel, you'll
- DESC: be able to move around windows and still continue processing while
- DESC: you are doing it. To see an example of this, duplicate a big
- DESC: folder, and move around the progress dialog. You'll notice that the
- DESC: duplication is still happening, even though you are moving the
- DESC: window. Way cool!
- 8 Drag Relay 1.2.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 10-28-1993
- DESC: Drag Relay 1.2 - If you Drag and Drop a file, folder or disk onto
- KEY: Drag Relay 1.2.sit KBytes: 6144
- DESC: this application, the resulting Open Documents Apple Event will be
- DESC: relayed to the project currently executing under the THINK project
- DESC: manager. Version 1.2 is compatible with THINK C 5.0 through 6.0.1.
- DESC: Free.
- DESC:
- DESC:
- 7 DropInfo 2.0.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 09-01-1993
- DESC: DropInfo 2.0 - Drop any file, folder, or disk onto this
- KEY: DropInfo 2.0.sit KBytes: 14336
- DESC: application's icon. It will proceed to display many file
- DESC: attributes, which you can then edit. The file attributes displayed
- DESC: are - type, creator, file locked, name locked, Inited, has bundle,
- DESC: Invisible, Shared, Use custom icon, Alias, Stationary, No Inits.
- DESC: Very helpful when you need to change attributes.
- DESC:
- 6 DropRouter.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 06-08-1992
- DESC: DropRouter - Drop files into this program and re-route them to other
- KEY: DropRouter.sit KBytes: 25600
- DESC: locations. For example, drop a text file in and move it to a Text
- DESC: Files folder. Or drop a Word document into a Word docs folder. Or a
- DESC: folder or disk containing text files, Word files, and PICT files,
- DESC: and move them to their own separate directories on their disk. Drag
- DESC: sets of files, folders, or disks into the application, “Drop
- DESC: Box-style”. Router will scan folders and disks provided depending
- DESC: on yourpreferences, and will move (if preferences allow, of course)
- DESC: each of the selected items to a directory you have set. Drop Boxes
- DESC: require Apple Events, and thus System 7.0 or higher.
- 5 DropSave.sit 2 B AMUG BBS in a Box 09-06-1991
- DESC: With DropSave installed, when you shift click on the title bar of a
- KEY: DropSave.sit KBytes: 5120
- DESC: document in an application which has a “Save As” menu item, the
- DESC: document will zoom down to a region shaped like a document icon.
- DESC: You can drag this region around and drop it on a Finder window.
- DESC: DropSave will then make the application save the document in that
- DESC: window. By option-shift-clicking on the title bar, the
- DESC: application’s “Save As” dialog will appear so you can change the
- DESC: name of the document if you wish. (You can even move around
- DESC: directories if you really wanted to.) The document will reappear
- DESC: sometime during this process.
- 4 DropScript.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 03-04-1992
- DESC: DropScript is an Application and Script Suite that allows you to
- KEY: DropScript.sit KBytes: 15360
- DESC: create drop-on applications that execute a Frontier script.
- DESC:
- DESC:
- 3 DropSwitch 1.0.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 10-28-1993
- DESC: DropSwitch 1.0 - DropSwitch changes the Creator of TEXT files via
- KEY: DropSwitch 1.0.sit KBytes: 14336
- DESC: Drag and Drop. For instance, the text files you create with America
- DESC: Online can be converted to TeachText format by just entering "ttxt"
- DESC: once into the dialog, and then dragging their icons onto DropSwitch.
- DESC: Once you set the creator, all files dragged and dropped will be
- DESC: changed to that creater. DropSwitch is capable of converting over
- DESC: 200 files at one time, keep in mind that it will take a few seconds
- DESC: to complete an operation of this size. Your Mac will look like it
- DESC: has locked up, but don't fear DropSwitch is just doing it's work.
- DESC: Requires System 7.
- 2 DropWatch.sit 0 B AMUG BBS in a Box 03-22-1992
- DESC: DropWatch is a System Extension (INIT) that will watch for items
- KEY: DropWatch.sit KBytes: 7168
- DESC: being put into a particular folder. This is useful if you maintain
- DESC: a drop folder on a file server or on your local machine (using
- DESC: System 7's Personal File Sharing feature). WARNING: You currently
- DESC: need to use ResEdit to configure DropWatch. If you don't have
- DESC: ResEdit or don't feel comfortable using it, then you'll have to
- DESC: find another utility. Sorry. Once configure, DropWatch will look at
- DESC: the number of files/folder contained in the watched folder every
- DESC: few seconds. If the number of things in the folder increases, you
- DESC: can have DropWatch play a particular sound. By Larry Rosenstein.
- 1 DTPPrinter.sit 5 B AMUG BBS in a Box 09-06-1991
- DESC: When Apple first introduced System 7 at the 1989 Developer's
- KEY: DTPPrinter.sit KBytes: 17408
- DESC: Conference, it included something called the 'New Print
- DESC: Architecture'. One of the really cool parts of the NPA were 'Desktop
- DESC: Printers'. This allowed you to have an icon on your desktop which
- DESC: represented a particular printer. You could then drag a document
- DESC: onto the particular printer icon, and it would print to that
- DESC: printer. Very useful when you have multiple Laserwriters, a Fax
- DESC: Modem, Print to Disk utility, etc. Well, the NPA disappeared, and
- DESC: with it 'Desktop Printers'....In order to correct this MAJOR
- DESC: oversight, I wrote DTPrinter which implements 'Desktop Printers'
-
